A city suffering from a devastating plague reaches out to its heroic king for redemption, setting in motion a series of shattering events that continue to resonate today in the fundamental question: "Who am I?" Sophocles's ancient Greek tragedy, a cornerstone of Western drama since 429 BCE, comes to life for a modern audience in this vital and poetic adaptation by celebrated American playwright Ellen Mclaughlin.
Due to the intimate nature of the Black Box Theatre there will be no late admission once the play begins. There will be no intermission, and those who leave before the play ends will not be able to return to their seats. The expected length of the performance is about 90 minutes.
The Saturday, December 7 matinee performance (2:30 p.m.) will be ASL interpreted.
